Localise, don't translate: what that actually means

A translated page answers questions a Chinese buyer is not asking, in an order that does not match how they decide.

France → China

Localisation is usually sold as a language service. It is an argument service: which proof comes first, which objection gets handled, what a credible company looks like in this market.

Before anything else: can they reach you?

A site that loads slowly or not at all from mainland China has no marketing problem to solve yet. The usual causes are easy to fix and easy to miss — fonts, maps, video or analytics loaded from services that are blocked, and hosting with no presence in Asia.

Then: reorder the argument

European pages often open with positioning and arrive at proof late. That order tends to lose a Chinese buyer, who is usually checking whether you are real before deciding whether you are interesting. Company registration, physical presence, a contact path that is not only an email form — these belong nearer the top.

For a Chinese reader, a QR code usually converts better than a form. The form is a Western reflex; the scan is the local equivalent.
